Davis Mann & Co. is owned by Claire Davis and Ashley Mann. These two women have created a beautiful salon located in the heart of downtown Opelika. Though they have extensive experience in their field, they had a desire to serve clients beyond cut and color. They have created a salon/spa that promotes other female entrepreneurs who offer skin, brow, spray tanning, and lashes services. Everything you need to feel and look your best in an atmosphere that is calming and fun.
It is fun for us to work with clients who are creative and clear in their vision. We first helped them by bringing their brand to life with logos, fonts, and a color palette. We then created signage, appointment cards, and business cards.
UTILIZE SOCIAL MEDIA:
Sometimes timing can be tricky when you are opening a new business with a physical location. While they worked on renovating an older building, we needed to begin establishing their brand and creating awareness. First, we created a Facebook business page and Instagram account. When creating your accounts, make sure your profile pictures fit the profile picture areas. This is simple but if ignored can create a poor first impression. Make sure you have a branded cover photo for Facebook that tells people what you offer and how they can act.
Every case is different but 99% of the time I recommend informing your friends and family of what’s to come, start creating a local following, and building a reputation before you have to sell anything. Lay a foundation of giving and connection before asking for others to support your business financially. Tip: Have all of your team members invite people to follow the accounts.
CREATE A LANDING PAGE:
In order to create legitimacy, we needed a website. We did not have the team and building pictures to complete a full website before opening so we created a website landing page. We kept it very simple but wanted to establish the quality of the brand and make sure the styling was consistent with the social media profiles. It was important that we asked the landing page viewers to act while they were on the site. We added an email opt-in on the landing page. All they had to do was insert their email address and click submit. They could also click to go to the Instagram or Facebook page. We created a loop so that interested people could be guided to experience Davis Mann & Co. on every platform. Don’t assume people will find your website from your social media profiles OR your social media profiles after finding your website. Make it easy to find and obvious. Tell them what you want them to do.
Once it was time to host the grand opening and ribbon-cutting, they had a following on social media and from their website that they could communicate with.
We have since published their full website. As with all websites, it is a work in progress and they can add to it as they become more established. No matter where you are in the process, have a presence online. You can always add and refine. I believe in doing things well for a strong first impression. Even when you don’t have everything, you can still have a presence with what you have. Waiting to act until all elements are perfect could create missed opportunities.
