How to refresh your brand and grow your business

NEED:

Pet Sitting Plus is an in-home pet sitting business based in Auburn, Alabama. Pet Sitting Plus is not a new business as Amanda and her mom have been running it as a side business for a few years. The business was built on friendships, loyal pet owners, and word-of-mouth referrals. It has been exactly what they have needed. But now they want to grow the business. So they reached out to us to audit what they had and what they need in order to grow. They had a one-page website with stock photos and limited information. They had used a series of logos throughout the years but nothing that they loved or stuck with. They had social media profiles created but only posted on holidays.

AUDIENCE:

Their audience is any pet owner in the Auburn and Opelika area who would like their pet to be taken care of in their own home. This service is for those who need or want to keep their pet at home, not at a boarding facility.

SOLUTION:

We started at the brand level and developed a logo, defined the color palette and fonts, designed icons, and defined the brand message. We then planned, styled, and executed a brand photoshoot to capture Amanda and her mom in action with a variety of pets (dogs, cats, and fish). We even purchased the fish, Freddie, and keep him at our office! We designed a one-page website that clearly communicates their services, builds trust in their quality of care (testimonials and real images), and told the client how to book (clear “Call to Action” buttons).

LESSON:

When you are ready to take your business to the next level, start with branding. Whether you are graduating from a hobby to a micro-business; transitioning your side-hustle to a full-time business; or growing from solopreneur to a team - start at the brand level.

  1. Define your audience, their need, your solution, your personality and style, your services, and your process.

  2. Perform an audit on what you have (logo, photos, website, social media, booking platforms, print materials, packaging, etc.). Are they consistent? Are they impressive, are they clear?

  3. Hire a branding team to help you elevate all the parts of your brand and keep them consistent so that the potential customer is impressed before they hire you.
